Is this End of Google Maps – Street View for Switzerland users?
Google, the world largest online search engine has come under heavy regulation from European countries for its Google Map – Street View product. Countries such as Germany has taken measures to put some restrictions over Google map showing street view where users are provide with complete street view of a place and even provide options to blackout user’s house.
Earlier this month, Korean authorities raided Google’s office at Korea for collecting any possible information about Korean citizen’s activities which is mainly used for ad-targeting purposes. Time and again, Google comes under government regulation. Last year, Google stopped search engine service for China which is the largest search engine market for Google due to heavy restriction placed by Chinese government.
In some of the European countries, Google has stopped street view cars and it has planned to do the same for Switzerland now. Google has already implemented few restrictions for UK, where faces, license plates from Street View images are made blur.
Similarly, Switzerland and Austria has ordered to blur all the faces and license plates that are shown in Google Map – Street View images. In response to court claim, Google’s legal counsel says, “We simply cannot comply with the current terms of the court. If the ruling is not amended, we will not have any choice but to pull Google Street View services from Switzerland”.
The issue is not just with some European countries but it is slowly picking up at other parts of the world and Google has to come out with some working model to resolve such conflicts in other countries else it has to completely shut down its Street View services for Google users like that of Switzerland users.
