Lenovo enters Gaming Market Challenging Microsoft Kinect for Xbox 360
Lenovo whose brand is very famous along Chinese has entered into gaming market in China and eyes to combat directly with Microsoft Xbox 360. Lenovo’s technology bypasses the traditional way of gaming business where user is allowed to purchase gaming application via online and play the game on device. The device developed by Lenovo has complete motion and body tracking ability allowing players to get feel the interactive experience like that of Microsoft Xbox 360 and other similar game console.
Lenovo has more than 50 developers from various parts of the world for developing games for Eedoo iSec. World’s largest populated country, China, is set to become biggest market for gaming; its huge demand is driven by growing young population. According to one study, there are more than 265m gamers who plays online in the year 2009.
The games console is likely to be priced at $60 and various iSec games will available online for the sales at around $1 and $10. Experts believe that gaming experience will be better than that of Kinect and it poses major threat for Microsoft as it is under-priced to reach the market.
Initially, Lenovo is set to roll the gaming console to Chinese market and later on planned to launch worldwide. Lenovo’s concept of selling games online is seen to curb the piracy similar to that of Apple’s iTunes. Moreover, Games are also targeted to be similar to that of iPad, iPhone.
This console opens market other than gaming such as medical and fitness usage which are seen as growing market in years to come.
