Swiss citizens at Zurich city now have the power to decide future of “suicide tourism” law. There are two proposals for assisted suicide. One being complete ban on assisted suicide and other is limiting such proposals only to Zurich resident.

People from many foreign countries such as  Germany, France including United Kingdom fly to Switzerland for assisted suicide because it is illegal in their country and could face life sentence if found guilty. This made Swiss to feel the pressure from other parts of the world to stop “assisted suicide”.

Germany tops the list of highest no of assisted suicide in the Swiss soil followed by France and UK according to survey taken at Dignitas clinic near Zurich.

Time has come for taking real action against such practice and Swiss people always had hands on taking important political decision and each individual right plays important factor and it is a system of direct democracy.

For Swiss citizens, assisted suicide has been legal for many decades because they believe that individual should have right to choose “when and how to die”.

One of biggest assisted suicide organization has shut down its operation in Switzerland.

Swiss government is watching very keenly on Zurich’s vote on this issue of assisted suicide and will amend the federal law accordingly.
